Cuisinart 12 cup Coffee on Demand Programmable Coffeemaker Black Review

Cuisinart 12 cup Coffee on Demand Programmable Coffeemaker BlackLeaks from coffee reservoir floor after 3 months -- coffee/water actually pours out from underneath machine. No gasket, just molded plastic which means it can't be fixed. Unfortunate as it makes a great cup of coffee. Note that this is a well known problem with this coffeemaker -- just type in any web search engine, hundreds of complaints --- that the company is apparently extremely disinterested in fixing. Customer service is very poor as other reviewers have indicated, warranty/guarantee is worthless.

Cuisinart Coffee On Demand Coffee Maker -- Black COD-4000BWSA Review

Cuisinart Coffee On Demand Coffee Maker -- Black COD-4000BWSAThis is a great coffee maker overall. I'd love to see a stainless holding tank for the coffee in the next generation. It's certainly convenient! Just load the coffee maker with water, looking at the convenient gauge on the side for the right level. A little trick that many people do not seem to understand is that the coffee reservoir pulls out and doubles as a water pitcher. See the pouring spout? Yep, that's it! Add your basket (which takes a normal #4 filter), coffee, and turn the left knob to 'brew'. Turn the right knob to 'on'. The Cuisinart beeps when the coffee is ready. Push the lever, and get your drink on! This coffee maker is fast, makes very good coffee, and keeps it hot without the burnt taste. Want it ready at a certain time? No problem. The clock is easy to set, the auto on works well. The empty/full gauge is a very appealing feature.

Cuisinart Coffee Maker On Demand - DCC-2000FR Review

Cuisinart Coffee Maker On Demand - DCC-2000FRI bought my first DCC-2000 in October 2006.It slowly faded out, with the controls shutting off unpredictably, until one day, it was just dead.I plugged it in and it wouldn't show the clock, nor would it turn on to brew the coffee.I contacted Cuisinart, who replaced it for a $10.00 shipping fee.I assume the replacement was refurbished. It began doing the same thing at about 9 months to a year.I coaxed about 5-6 more months out of it, but now it is sitting on my counter top DEAD.I will contact Cuisinart again, to see if they will replace again. However, I am not thrilled with having to replace this.A coffee pot that costs as much as this one does should last 5-10 years, not 18 months. When it works, it makes EXCELLENT coffee, and I love the feature of pushing the handle and getting hot, perfect, delicious coffee. It even has a gauge (my hubby enjoys that).

Cuisinart DCC-2000 Coffee-on-Demand 12-cup Programmable Coffeemaker Review

Cuisinart DCC-2000 Coffee-on-Demand 12-cup Programmable CoffeemakerI have a perfectly good Cuisinart DCC-1200, but after spotting the 2000 at a local store I couldn't stop fiddling with the floor model. Well, my wife was lurking as I was fiddling and with my birthday coming up - and my affinity for coffee - she thought she'd found the perfect gift. Boy was she was right!

Now let's be honest, carafe-less designs have been around forever - Farberware's stainless steel coffee pots are staples in offices and at parties - they just haven't been this much fun. I'm not going to repeat everything that's already been written, but suffice to say the 2000 is a unique coffee maker. Does it make coffee better than my 1200 did? No, not really. But it does keep it hot longer, without the bitter, burnt taste that would often accompany the coffee from my 1200 when left on the warming plate for over 30 minutes. I normally have two cups every morning (not the puny 5-ounce "cups" that every coffee maker seems to think is the norm for whatever reason), but I've found myself having about three (maybe not a good thing?) since getting the 2000 because that third cup, about 1-1/2 hours later still tastes great. That wasn't happening with the 1200. Sometimes I'd try the third cup, but the burnt carafe taste made it unfortunate.

One of the complaints I'm reading here is that you need a separate container to fill the 2000. I can't be the only owner that owns a Pyrex 2-cup (or more) measuring cup can I? I just fill it up once, twice - gasp! - three times and pour it in while watching the water level on the side. Honestly, it's not that hard. Cleaning is no different from any model with a carafe. But instead of washing the outer carafe you remove the inner "carafe" to rinse it out or give it a thorough cleaning. That's the only difference. The coffee gauge is kind of silly and inaccurate and I rarely ever look at it, but it adds to the allure of the 2000.

I'll be keeping my 1200 at the ready for my sister to use when she comes over to make her dreadful flavored coffees so they don't contaminate my new toy. But until the next great design advance comes along to which I can't say "no," I'll be enjoying the 2000 to the fullest. It's neat, it's fun and it makes great coffee.
