MELITTA BLACK RSJ TRAVEL MUG Review

while i didn't know what to expect with this little number,
i wasn't put off by the price. it was so affordable.
coffee is more about the beans, not so much the maker.
but having tried it, i can give it a 5 star rating.

if the factory is looking for hints, i have two;

1 - the top, while pretty good, will leak.
i carry mine and have to watch out for any
really crazy manuevers if i have hot joe
in the vac bottle.

2 - i suggest the filter bowl be changed
to have added extension ring made to fit below
the flange where it rests on the vac bottle.
this would make it more stable.
while i haven't had it fall over or off,
i have to steady the filter bowl while
i pour the hot water through the brewing grounds.
Melitta can put me on their design team if
they wish.

Melitta Cone Filter Manual Coffeemaker Review

When you have the money and want a fancy manual drip maker, you can look at Chemex or Bodum. But, if you want good coffee at a good price, this is it. In our day coffee came in a 16 oz can and we drank whatever was cheapest. Now kids know the difference between Robusta and Arabica and go to a local roaster on the day their regional favorite is being roasted. Fancy Auto-Drip machines don't heat the water hot enough, build up calcium, and don't immerse all the grind correctly. French pots let silt and bitter elements of the coffee through. This method takes some time and effort, but if you like good coffee, its worth it. This coffee maker goes for about the price as a bag of good coffee.

Melitta Ready Set Joe Mug & Cone Coffee Maker - Red - 64074 Review

This is an ingenious concept---a miniature manual drip "coffeemaker" for one cup.I saw this in my local grocery store for $6, and I thought, "Why not give it a try?"I'm really glad I did. It makes a great single cup of coffee, so it's convenient to take to work or to keep on hand if you just want one cup of coffee. Also, it's so small that it's easy to store it. Some tips to keep in mind as you make a cup of coffee:

1) A course grind doesn't work as well with this. If you use a course grind, your coffee will be weak.I have a burr grinder and use a medium/fine grind. It's perfect.

2) The perfect tempature for coffee is somewhere around 206 degrees. I don't bother with a thermometer, but I just bring about 1 1/2 cups of water to boil in the microwave (using a Pyrex cup). I let it boil, and then just let it rest for about 30 seconds or so.

3) Pour enough water in to cover the grinds. You'll see it foam up at the top (if your coffee is fresh).Let that water flow through. This initial "soaking" of the grinds is important to extracting the flavor.

4) Finally, just pour the remaining water through (or however much you need to fill your coffee cup). The slower you pour, the stronger the coffee.

It sounds complicated, but believe me, it was really quick--quicker than making a cup of coffee in an automatic drip coffeemaker.

It's rare to find something that is cheap and works great, but this is just such a product.

Melitta Manual Coffeemaker 10 Cup Review

This device is about as simple as it gets to make coffee with the exception of the way my cousins make it in Brazil; there they hang a kind of cotton sock on a ring stand and pour hot water through. Out comes the most delicious "cafezhino" or however it's spelled. The Melitta works on the same filtration principle.
A few notes: 10 cups means 10 European cups or about 2 to 3 healthy robust, caffeine-addict American mugs. And the coffee won't stay hot as this is a glass pitcher or carafe with no warming element. Try heating the carafe first, or pouring the coffee into a thermos or insulated carafe. Wait, it's only making a few AMERICAN cups so just drink up and don't worry about it getting cold.

Northwest Glass Yama CD-5 20 -Ounce One Cup Coffee Maker, Clear Glass, 1-Unit Review

I have been using this as a two cup coffee maker. I don't like the fabric filter because it's difficult to clean, so I use a Melitta paper filter inside the fabric filter and that makes for a much faster and easier cleanup. However, when I pour the water into the filter, it invariably causes a portion of the brewed coffee to leak out of the lower positioned spout and onto the table. This is very annoying and could result in the permanent staining of an expensive tablecloth, if you aren't careful. It is intuitive for me to think of the top of the coffee maker as the exit point for the coffee, but that has resulted in a few untimely spills when pouting the coffee, since the exit spout is on the lower portion of the unit. You will eventually get used to this, but in the beginning, it is always a surprise to see the coffee spill out on your nice clean counter or tabletop. I guess I would rather have purchased a different filter coffee maker and there are others on the market through Amazon, that cost a few dollars more, but are better designed. I'm going to try the Chemex since it appears to be a more functional design.

HIC Porcelain Drip Coffee Maker , 1 ea Review

I like it, very reasonable price.I bought Melitta no.1 filters and they work fine but are smaller than the filter holder(filter top is about even with the rim, but there is a gap between the filter and the porcelain holder).I used some Melitta no.4 cone filters and they work fine even though they extend way above the rim.The no.4s actually work quite well as they guard against overfilling and spilling over. So, I don't recommend buying no.4s, but if you have no.4 filters you can use them to see how you like it without buying no.1s.I might even try some no.2 cone filters, I have a feeling they might be the best fit.

Just be aware it is a small coffee maker and that the coffee doesn't stay hot too long in it.I find myself drinking the first cup faster so that the second cup won't get cold.Of course, I could just poor the whole thing in a larger thermal coffee cup or make one cup at a time.

Finally, I do think it tastes really good, no plastic flavors!The water temperature and the size of your grind are crucial in getting the right flavor but well worth it.On my coffee grinder, I set it closer to the french press setting than to the cone filter setting, of course this will vary depending on the grinder and personal preferences.The online sources that I have read say the water temp should be about 200F, and they recommend not letting it boil or at least for long, since this causes the air to go out of the water and will make it flat.I found different temperatures do change the flavor a fair amount;maybe I over heated it, not sure.I will order a thermometer in the future so I can experiment with different temperatures.
