I bought the twin product, HCM 100. Unfortunately it was money ill spent on a product that dispenses lukewarm coffee. I preheat my mug with water in the microwave which helps some.

I also was expecting a much better tasting coffee. The first coffeemaker I got had a plastic tank that had a strong plastic smell which I could taste in the coffee. That appears to be a common problem. I returned that product because it leaked like crazy. Fortunately the current one does not have that issue.

Black & Decker DDCM200 Dual Personal Coffeemaker, Black and Stainless Review

The B&D model DDCM200 is a great product for two people. It's advantage is in allowing two different cups to be brewed - different flavors, strengths, caffinated/decaffinated, or even tea.

Every cup comes out consistent once you learn how much coffee to put into basket for the amount of water you put in.We have learned this ratio for varying amounts of water so if we feel like a full or half mug we can get what we desire - consistently, and fast.

A knob on the top turned to the left diverts water to just the left side for one cup, or when turned to the right yields two cups. When brewing two, the left cup always gets a bit more water than the right - the right mug's coffee level is about 3/8ths of an inch lower than the left mug.

You can use the supplied baskets and forgo filters, but I like to use the #1 paper filters inside the baskets as cleanup is even easier than just the basket - the choice is yours.

As for noise, it does make some but I in no way find it offensive. Unlike some coffee makers that seem to linger, when the brew cycle finishes the water stops entering the basket almost immediately. I like this as when it's done, it's done.

There are no hot plates in this maker - nothing to burn any errant drippings, no safety issues.In fact if after brewing you leave the machine on, it will turn itself off. The coffee is meant to brew directly into your mug. I generally brew into an old, large, Dunkin Donuts (made by THERMO) mug without it's lid. This mug is better insulated and keeps my coffee warm enough for me for a long time. I do NOT like coffee too hot to drink. If a coffee shop wants me to use a cup insulator sleeve to keep from burning my hand, then the coffee is way too hot for me. I mention this as the B&D DDCM200 makes a hot cup of coffee but if you are expecting it to be so hot you'd need a sleeve, it won't be.

This machine is fast. It is faster than many of my Mr. Coffee machines and only the single cup machine I use at work is faster.

Would I buy it again? YES, YES, YES!I'm here at Amazon looking for a second one for use at my girlfriend's house. She got me mine a year ago (been working great for a year) and likes it so much she now wants one. When she moves in here next year, we will have two so I'll have a backup.I don't see this model # on the B&D website so I'll presume it is no longer made. Another reason I want to get a second unit ... that's how much I enjoy the one I have!

I recommend this to individuals who like different cups of coffee - gone will be the waiting between first and second pots, or arguing over which coffee do you both drink, or its strength. What a terrific peace keeper!!

Café Valencia 2 Traveler Cup Coffee Maker Review

Firs off, in the interests of fairness, I bought this coffee maker on WOOT from about half what Amazon currently is selling it for. That means that it's been a better value to me overall than if might be if I'd paid full price.

I love this coffee maker. It's easy to use, brews a good cup (or two!) of coffee, and doesn't take up much counter space. Since my wife and I are both caffeine addicts, we brew a fair amount of coffee, but rarely need the capacity of our full 12 cup brewer. This allows she or I to brew a cup for ourselves with a minimum of fuss.

The filters used are the reusable metal-mesh variety. They work very well. I've been using this brewer for over 6-months and have never found any coffee grounds in my coffee.

The stainless steel mugs are better quality than what you'd normally get from an inexpensive stainless mug. The lids seal tightly and are functional. The base of the mug is NOT slip resistant (rubberized) which would have been nice of them to include. It's understandable why they didn't however, since the mugs need to be slid into the coffee brewer and they sit in place fairly firmly--a rubberized bottom might have made that a hassle.

My only real complaint with the brewer is the control dial to choose the left, right, or both mugs. The instructions state to 'turn until you near a click' when either selecting the L or R mug. However, the dial only clicks when turned to the right side, and never does on the left. However, it does brew just fine to either L or R mug.

Another minor complaint is that the lid of the brewer doesn't fasten closed, even when you've selected one or both of the mugs. This isn't a problem from a brewing standpoint, but after using many coffee makers over the years, it's been my experience that brewers that don't lock the lid shut (and have a plastic lid) will warp over time as the plastic is heated and reheated several hundred times.

The coffee this brewer makes is of course dependent on your beans and water quality, but if given fresh ground beans and pure water it will brew an EXCELLENT cup of coffee, just as good as my Cuisinart DCC-1200. It might not be as good as the ridiculously priced single cup CLOVER that Starbucks sells, but if you want a fantastic cup of joe from a relatively inexpensive brewer, this Cafe Valencia model isn't bad.

Overall I'm very pleased with this brewer (especially since I got mine for much cheaper than the retail price) and woudl recommend it to someone who wants a 1-2 cup coffee brewer.

The plastic liners of the stainless steel mugs have gotten loose inside their housings (one actually can be pulled right out). I'm guessing the constant heating\cooling cycle plays havoc with most adhesives. I was able to easily fix this issue using some Gorilla Glue, which is not affected by temperature. However, be advised that this issue may come up for you. Thankfully, it's easily remedied with a little glue.

Melitta Ready Set Joe Mug & Cone Coffee Maker - Red - 64074 Review

This is an ingenious concept---a miniature manual drip "coffeemaker" for one cup.I saw this in my local grocery store for $6, and I thought, "Why not give it a try?"I'm really glad I did. It makes a great single cup of coffee, so it's convenient to take to work or to keep on hand if you just want one cup of coffee. Also, it's so small that it's easy to store it. Some tips to keep in mind as you make a cup of coffee:

1) A course grind doesn't work as well with this. If you use a course grind, your coffee will be weak.I have a burr grinder and use a medium/fine grind. It's perfect.

2) The perfect tempature for coffee is somewhere around 206 degrees. I don't bother with a thermometer, but I just bring about 1 1/2 cups of water to boil in the microwave (using a Pyrex cup). I let it boil, and then just let it rest for about 30 seconds or so.

3) Pour enough water in to cover the grinds. You'll see it foam up at the top (if your coffee is fresh).Let that water flow through. This initial "soaking" of the grinds is important to extracting the flavor.

4) Finally, just pour the remaining water through (or however much you need to fill your coffee cup). The slower you pour, the stronger the coffee.

It sounds complicated, but believe me, it was really quick--quicker than making a cup of coffee in an automatic drip coffeemaker.

It's rare to find something that is cheap and works great, but this is just such a product.

Keurig Single Serve Gourmet Coffee & Tea Brewing System Review

I have just purchased a Keurig Model B66 "Ultimate" and tried it out within the hour. My first opinions on this model are:

On a negative note... I found that the sound is noticeable when the unit is pumping the water into its heater. The individual K-Cup coffee containers while convenient, are costly per cup.

On the positive side... I drink black coffee and I feel that this unit does heat the water to a sufficient temperature and brews a drinkable cup of coffee very quickly. Another plus... Keurig also offers a solution for the "costly per cup servings" in that it sells a reusable coffee filter as an accessory. (This filter will permit you to use your own coffee which relates to a much lower cost per cup.)

My biggest regret about purchasing this particular model is that I didn't notice that the largest cup this unit brews is only ten (well 9.25) ounces... and not the twelve ounce mug size that I consider to be "my" standard size cup. In all fairness I can't find fault with Keurig for that because it clearly states the cup brewing size right on the back of the box.

Medelco Personal Coffee Maker Review

This product is simple and produces coffee I like. No more wasting paper filters for me, or drinking nasty coffee from the company coffee pot.

I used to use a French press to make my coffee at work for that little pick-me-up.That tastes good to me, but the French press is a hassle to clean, and the glass vessel I have is very delicate-- I worry it will shatter next time I wash it.There's another reason I want to get away from the French Press: I want to buy pre-ground coffee (I'm just a casual coffee drinker, not a connoisseur) and the French press allows too much of the coffee grounds and sludge into my cup when using anything finer than coarsely ground coffee. I figured I would try this product, and get a similarly tasting cup of coffee without the sludge in my cup.Well, I'm happy with the results.

The filter prevents most of the "dust" from the store-bought pre-ground coffee from getting into my cup of coffee. Well, it allows more dust to get through than a paper filter, but it performs much better than the swissgold® KF 300 One-Cup Coffee Filter I bought from Amazon.

I should probably note that I'm generous with the amount of coffee grounds I use to brew coffee.It tastes better that way.

Hamilton Beach 42115 3-in-1 Hot-Beverage Center, Black Review

This is replacing a 4 cup Melitta coffeemaker (couldn't find a replacement carafe that would fit the brewer, which sat atop the pot).
This appealed to me in that this product has the following good features:

1) no pot/carafe to crack or clean
2) no waste (since you didn't have to brew 1-3 cups to get 1 decent sized mug + waste)
3) no hot plate/pot to turn off - nothing to worry about if you started a brew and then were unexpectedly called away or forgot about it
4) no paper filters required (but see below)
5) looks interesting - doesn't look like a coffee maker, takes up less space on counter, easier to keep clean.

I read some reviews - good and bad- and decided to get it anyway. AM SO GLAD I DID- I REALLY LIKE THIS THING!

Reasons:1)-4) above, plus:
5) water resevoir + filter assembly is dishwasher safe (top rack)
6) capability of using pods (I wasn't about to buy an expensive 'pod-processor', so this is a very nice 'perk' - pun intended! ;o)

Very easy- load it up, walk away, come back to beverage.Lovely!

Some tips to head off any/all problems-

1) Read the manual.Hey, things happen, but really - use COLD WATER ONLY.

2) If brewing multiple cups- WAIT AT LEAST 30 SECS after light goes off before starting another brew.To be safe, I wait a full minute- have not had any problems.

3) I could see the potential for 'filter fouling', so I buy generic #4 Melitta filters (huge pack can be bought for <$2/pk) (& since #1s are almost impossible to find/expensive).I cut them down to fit the little filter basket, and I can go back n forth from tea to coffee to hot cocoa to soup without carryover effects (dump out coffee & rinse assembly after coffee).
4) Be careful with pushing down on plastic parts- again- read the manual. You might have to double-check to be sure that the water resevoir is pushed in all the way some times (it happened to me once).Use the handle/flap assembly to open/close the filter assembly - this is covered in the manual.

I agree- it would be nice if this were made more robustly (less plastic), and I do worry about the ability to get a replacement brew basket if need be. But I paid less than $20 for this (at Meijer), so can't complain.

...which is make one 8 oz cup of coffee. There are ways to work around it tho, if you drink more coffee:

1) You can go over the fill line and get about 14 oz of coffee, and I haven't had any bad experiences doing so yet.You have to stay close though, and do a cup switch, or the cup will overflow, since there's not enough space to hold a bigger cup than the one that comes with the coffeemaker.

2)Dump the grinds and make another cup.

3) The best so far, put extra coffee into the filter. When the first cup is done, pour the coffee into a bigger cup.Turn the machine back on andrun more water through the same coffee grinds.When that's finished, put it into the bigger cup with the coffee you made before. 4) Cut down on your coffee

So, my displeasure with the product is because of my own tastes.But for making one 8 oz cup of coffee, it's of overall good quality.It doesn't take up a lot of space, so great for those with little counterspace.It looks sleek, just like in the picture.Also, it's nice not having a glass pot, which often broke onme.Not having to buy filters is also convenient.

Finally, as for having a plastic scoop, you still have to figure out how much coffee is the proper strength for your taste.So, using exactly two scoops won't work for everyone, like the advertisement says.However, that is true for all coffeemakers.

So, if you're sure you only want one 8 oz cup of coffee, or don't mind making one cup twice, short on counterspace,hate buying and storing filters and always breaking your glass coffee urn, this is the coffeemaker for you!!

I love coffee. And, I'm kind of an elitist when it comes to coffee. I can only use really good beans-- right now I'm using Lavazza, but my every day coffee is starbucks brand.The problem is, I cannot produce a good POT of coffee for the life of me. I don't know why. I use filtered water. I clean out the carafe. My regular every day machine has a water filter. I don't know why my pots of coffee are horrid compared to my husband's pots of coffee, which taste as if they came from the local coffeehouse/espresso bar.

So, after getting a free senseo (YUCK!), and giving it to a friend, I bought this little coffee maker.IT makes a really good cup of coffee I have not messed up even one time.And, I use it 5-10 times per day.It is just excellent.I've been looking at the higher priced one cup makers, such as the Tassimo, but I'm not sure I need it. With freshly ground good beans, this little coffee maker does the job.

This coffee maker, by the way, makes a hot cup of coffee-- definitely as hot as every full-size coffeemaker I've ever had. I'm wondering if the other reviewer just got a machine that didn't work too well.Or, maybe he just likes it from boiled water.Whatever the case, if you're used to drinking coffee made from regular drip machines, this one is fine.

I've had this coffeemaker for at least two months now, and I literally use it 5 to 10 times per day.I keep expecting it to break, because it's definitely not made expensively, but it keeps going.I think it's a great choice for someone like me or someone in an office.

This was exactly what I was looking for. Don't hesitate buying it. It will fit a variety of sizes of mugs as long as they are not huge. Mugs can be rather tall and still be fine. It does shut off very quickly after brewing...made me feel safe about using it - I'm moving quickly in the morning and won't remember to turn it off. The red color is really cute, just as pictured. I reaaaaaaally like it alot. You can use the permanent filter OR take that out and use paper size 1 or 4 cup filters, like I do. I think it makes a stronger brew with paper because it holds the water on the coffee grounds longer...same with any coffee maker. Takes up no space at all, too.

We have been using it for about a week now and I absolutely love it!We had used the Braun Tassimo machine for about 5 years and the new Bosch has much improved the Tassimo coffee maker.Here's a list of the Improvements:
1.It's narrower and doesn't take up as much counter space
2.There is a power button on the front of the machine so you can easily turn it off at night.
3.There is essentially no water warm-up time.It is almost instant after you insert the T-disc and push the green button.
4.It is extemely quiet.
5.It even makes the coffee a little stronger than the old machine did.
6.It does not collect waste water that you have to empty all the time.Only the few drops of coffee that don't make it into your cup are collected.
7.Much better filtering system. It also has a change filter indicator to tell you when its time to change the filter.
