We had a bit smaller version of this for years and LOVED it!! This one looks prettier but it is harder to use. We always steamed milk right in our mug before but with this one it is almost impossible to do because it immediately foams over and makes a huge mess. It does not adjust to steam/froth so you just get froth! It drives me crazy! I would rather have the other Capresso that is a bit smaller but worked great. If you never steam milk I suppose the espresso part works fine. I don't like it :(

Black & Decker HCC70 Black With Chrome Accents Brewing System Review

I bought the twin product, HCM 100. Unfortunately it was money ill spent on a product that dispenses lukewarm coffee. I preheat my mug with water in the microwave which helps some.

I also was expecting a much better tasting coffee. The first coffeemaker I got had a plastic tank that had a strong plastic smell which I could taste in the coffee. That appears to be a common problem. I returned that product because it leaked like crazy. Fortunately the current one does not have that issue.

Melitta MES2R One:One Single Serve Coffee Maker Review

I bought the Melitta for it's ease of use and good looks.The first time I used it, the regular coffee was fair and the decaf was bitter.Disappointed, we also bought pods from other coffee makers and stuffed them in the holder.Despite the inelegant process, they didn't leak and the coffee was a little better.I agree with other reviewers that the the water reservoir is too small and it's difficut to fill.I spill a bit every time I refill, but that's me. The unit takes several minutes to heat up to operating temperature for cup number one and the second cup takes almost as long - go figure? Also, the coffee doesn't come out as hot as I like, but pre-warming the cup with hot tap water helps a bit.The tea pods are a waste of time. Basically, the tea's not very good so if that's the reason you are buying this unit, may I suggest you look elsewhere or buy decent loose tea and brew it in a pot like the Brits?The best thing we found you could make with unit is a half-way decent cafe mocca. Try this: Get a big mug. Fill with the contents of a hot cocoa pack.Install your favorite coffee pod. Press the regular mug button. When it finishes, press the smaller mug button (that's right, run water through 1 pod twice).The result is an acceptable cafe mocca - definitely not Starbucks but not $11.00 either. As for that elusive perfect "cuppa" - this isn't going to give it to you. Convenient, good looking, but only a fair cup-a-Joe.

Quick Update: I tried Maxwell House pods over the weekend.Stuffed them in the holder and the result, a very nice cup of coffee. Again, pre-heating the mug with tap water really helped. These pods are made from 100% Arabica beans - great smell and no bitterness.I like a smooth cup and so far, this is it (I had 2 with Sunday breakfast and my NY Times Crossword puzzle.)

We are still having problems getting a stronge cup off coffee and a full cup.I known it is the coffee that makes the it stronge,but the full cup and not spilling is the maker.Hopefully we will get it right but at times I find us going back to the push type coffee maker.

DeLonghi EC140B Espresso and Cappuccino Maker Review

I owned the maker for a while.It's far better than many of the Krups and other models typically for sale at department stores.If you want an espresso, you'll need a pump machine.Many cheap machines will say "steam driven" or otherwise have "steam" in the title:what this means is that they lack a pump and merely use steam pressure to get now overly superheated water to flow through the fine espresso grinds.(By the way, "espresso" is, for all intents and purposes, a grind, not a roast.It is a very fine powdery grind, just shy of Turkish grind.)This results in charred burnt espresso, with little or no crema.

This DeLonghi, by contrast, does a fine little job of pumping.In addition, it uses a small stainless steel boiler -- not a superheated "thermoblock" [which means the water is run over a heating coil, not heated within a boiler].

That said, the only way to get an espresso, meaning a coffee drink in which properly heated water is compressed through a powdery grind of freshly roasted beans, and thus producing a chemical reaction which releases a frothy caramel colored liquid (called "crema"), is by using a very good grinder to produce a very fine, even grind.This machine, when coupled with a Gaggia MDF or Rancilio Rocky, or at the most economical, an Innova Lux or Solis Maestro Plus, and beans roasted within two weeks prior, can produce good espresso.

As to cappuccino, the machine does a fine job for the price in steaming milk.In order to do this, though, you must "temperature surf" the thermostat.What this means is that you steam while the boiler is heating.It's simple:start steaming your milk and you'll find that the steam power will run out in about 15 seconds.At that time the light for the boiler will come on, indicating the boiler is engaged.Instead of closing the steam valve and waiting for the light to go off, just close the steam valve for a few seconds, and then open it again, as you continue steaming the milk with the light still on (and hence the boiler still heating).This will give adequate steaming power.

I don't believe you can really get a better espresso or cappuccino maker for under $150.If you want to go for a huge step up, consider buying a Gaggia Carreza.It's worth the extra money.

We needed a commercial coffee maker for work - this is perfect - two of us can make coffee at the same time and each use a different flavor of pod if we want to.It is so easy to use - just pour in water to make 1 cup or 2 cups, put the pod(s) in and push the button - couldn't be any easier to clean up - just dump the used pod!And it came with 50 pods of coffee - a couple of us like it a little stronger so we just use a little less water and it works great - I would recommend this coffee maker.

After staying at many Hilton Hotels that use this Cusinart Stainless Steel Coffee Pod Brewer, I had to have one to put in my bedroom. My bedroom now feels like a hotel room, the coffee takes no time at all and I reccomend getting "The POD" World Blend Coffee Pods (sold here on Amazon). I've since sent one to my best friend and she said it's "the best present she ever got". Love this!!! So convienient to have a coffee maker next to your bed!

Cuisinart ® Commercial 1-Cup Coffeemaker Review

This is a great little brewer for anyone who wants to brew just one quick cup or when you don't need to make a full pot.I use it when I leave early AM for the airport hours before the family wakes up.Green Tree supplies this unit with 50 pods of terrific coffee too.It's fast, quiet, and I think I'll easily save the cost of this brewer in coffee we don't pour out down the drain. I shopped around and compared features on a lot of models before I bought this one.The big differences for me were
1) You can use your own coffee grounds or loose tea instead of spendy pods
2) It's also compatible with pods from a variety of makers.
3) It's much cheaper than the big name pod machines
4) Unlike some of the other machines that use a lot of electricity to keep water constantly heated so it can dispense quickly, this only heats when you turn it on.

To use it, you fill the water reservoir, put the pod in the pod tray, and press the start button.You add water for each cup you make, which makes it easy to control how much coffee you get out of it and control the brew strength.There are 3 pod trays that you can use: one that accepts a single pod, one that accepts 2 pods in case you like it strong, are making a big mug (most pods have enough coffee for 4-6oz mug) or for 2 cups at a time, and a 3rd tray that uses your own grounds or loose tea leaves.My only complaint is that the coffee could be a little hotter, though adding hot water instead of cold to the reservoir helps.

DeLonghi EC155 Espresso Maker Review

I love espresso, and this little baby makes a great cup.Here are a few points that might be useful for you to know:

Good points:
*It doesn't take up too much room on the counter and looks nice with it's silver metal accents.
*The water reservoir is a good size, you can make about 8-10 shots before you need to refill it, which is very easy to do, and there is a clear section behind the basket which shows the water level.
*Fast heat-up time (only about a minute), good frothing wand, no wait time between frothing and brewing (though you do have to wait a little between brewing and frothing).

Be warned:
*Frothing wand is only 3 1/4 inches from the counter top.Not abig deal, I just went and bought a frothing cup that is about that height.
*Distance from grounds basket to tray is only 2 1/2 inches, I usually use a small espresso cup.
*Built-in tamper sucks, buy a good metal one.
*You don't end up with a nice dry puck, the grounds basket is a watery soup after your espresso is made, so I dump it down the disposal.
*You will end up drinking more espresso than you mean to, it's that good!

Seriously, I chose this machine after a lot of online researching, and decided on this one based on its outstanding reviews and great price.What led me to it were the reviews of another DeLonghi, the EC140B, which is an older and less attractive model, but had reviews from people who had owned theirs for 6 and 10 years!I'm hoping that this one will have the same longevity.

-----> UPDATE: I've now had this machine for 8 months and it started running very slow.I'd been using only distilled water, so I knew it wasn't a calcification issue, so I looked into it and it turns out machines like this one (no backflushing) need to be cleaned every month or so to remove built up grounds that work their way inside the machine.So I ran some cleaner through it and all this nasty brownish liquid came out, and now it runs great again!So remember people, take good care of your things and they will take good care of you.A lesson I am still learning...

West Bend 56204 Single-Cup Personal Coffee Maker and Water Dispenser, Red Review

This was exactly what I was looking for. Don't hesitate buying it. It will fit a variety of sizes of mugs as long as they are not huge. Mugs can be rather tall and still be fine. It does shut off very quickly after brewing...made me feel safe about using it - I'm moving quickly in the morning and won't remember to turn it off. The red color is really cute, just as pictured. I reaaaaaaally like it alot. You can use the permanent filter OR take that out and use paper size 1 or 4 cup filters, like I do. I think it makes a stronger brew with paper because it holds the water on the coffee grounds longer...same with any coffee maker. Takes up no space at all, too.
