Bodum Chocolatiere Glass Hot Chocolate Maker/Frother Review

This product was nice while it lasted, but that was less than 2 months.I purchased mine the week after Thanksgiving and used it a few times a week.I always washed it by hand, even though the instructions state that it's dishwasher-safe.However, after about 6 weeks, the plastic piece at the end of the mixing rod cracked in half and fell off, which rendered the product useless since that piece holds the propeller in place.

I e-mailed Bodum's customer service department, explained the problem, and asked them to replace the broken piece. They responded that the piece I needed would not be available for 4-6 weeks.I then told them that I had really enjoyed the product and did not want to be without my newly purchased hot chocolate maker for a month or longer in the middle of winter, when I use it the most, and asked that they send me a whole new Chocolatiere since they could not promptly replace the part that would make mine functional again. They refused, without further apology or explanation.I do not recommend this product (or any Bodum product, due to the poor service they provided).

Now that I cannot use my Chocolatiere, I tried what another reviewer recommended -- a whisk. It works just as well, at a fraction of the cost (and much less to clean).Just microwave the milk in a Pyrex measuring cup with spout, whisk in the cocoa powder and sugar, and pour into a drinking mug!Wish I had thought of that before I shelled out $30.

Product Description:
Considering peoples love affair with chocolate, BODUM designed a delightful chocolate jug with unique blender-like qualities. The BODUM design significantly differs from classic ceramic or porcelain chocolate jugs but is still reminiscent of grandma's milk jug in form and shape. Chocolate milk is growing popular with children and grown-ups alike. The cleverly devised manual blender of the Chocolatiere consists of a propeller attached to a spiral rod that smoothly mixes the chocolate or chocolate powder, producing a rich froth. This makes it a fun-to-use tool, ensuring the best mixed chocolate milk - the sinful temptation par excellence! The handle and the jug are made of heat-resistant, see-through borosilicate glass. The lid is made of stainless steel and plastic with a silicone gasket for better tightness. All parts are dishwasher safe. The manual blender can be fully disassembled for better cleaning.Fine drinking chocolate is becoming more and more popular across the US.Now with the Chocolatiere now you can make drinking chocolate at home.Just cut up some fine chocolate and place it into the jug.Fill the jug with warm milk, set the lid in place and move the plunger up and down until you have a nice mixed chocolate and foam. For an even easier method, put cold milk into the microwave safe borosilicate glass jug and heat the milk in the microwave. Then just add the chocolate and froth. If you let the chocolate milk sit for a few minutes between servings it will naturally start to separate - that's ok.Just plunge a few times to mix everything back up.The Chocolatiere has a 1.0 l, 34 oz. capacity.

Braun Tassimo TA1200 Single-Serve Hot-Beverage System Review

I purchased this product from Target for $129 today for two reasons:1 - I have recently developed a dependence on Starbucks Caffee Mocha - it does not have much of a coffee taste, which I like, and the shot of espresso in it helps me concentrate.I work at home and its easy to get distracted. The small size has been costing me over $3 so I need to just make it at home 2 - Though I'm not a coffee drinker, most of my friends are and Ilike the idea of being able to offer them a cup of coffee, cappucino or espresso (or hot chocolate) now and then.

I researched the single serve machines quite a bit and found that Tassimo is a good machine, though the coffee is not as good as if made from freshly ground beans in a french press. That's okay with me - I'm just making one serving a day of espresso and mixing in a bunch of skim milk and chocolate powder so it does not have to be the best coffee flavor.Very practical as it is quick and each cup costs around $0.50 based on the T-disc prices.Note:the milk discs use a liquid rather than a powder, and this supposedly makes a better cappucino than the machines that use powdered milk disks.I use the Gevalia Espresso, then add hot skimmed milk frothed with the handheld Aerolatte, then add two spoons of Ghiradelli hot chocolate mix. It tastes great, albeit not quite as rich as Starbucks product.A friend stopped by and I made him a cup of coffee using a Maxwell house coffee disc (Target had a coupon for a free box of them when I bought the machine) and he said the coffee was very good.

You can remove the drip cup and put a full size travel mug under it if you want, though you may get a few drips on the counter after pulling your mug away. This thing is very easy to clean -the three parts you'd want to clean are easy to pull off the machine, and could go in the dishwasher though I just rinse them with clean water right after using the machine and put them back. Also, the machine allows you some control so you can increase or decrease the amount of water, and thus the strength, using the start/stop button.

My Bed, Bath and Beyond store had a great selection of Gevalia capuccino and espresso disks, and the tea and the hot chocolate disks.Target only had Maxwell House coffee disks.

In one way the Keurig machine is superior - you can make your own coffee pods. This allows you to use any type of coffee you want, and freshly ground from beans. If you are a SERIOUS coffee drinker, you should prob get the Keurig instead so you won't be limited on coffees you can use as you are with the Tassimo product.

Travel Immersion Heater CH-106 Review

I ordered this product, and it was defective. The company sent me a replacement. The replacement worked for about five uses, then it quit working.I decided to dissect it rather than try again.

Sure enough, it contains a heating element wire inside the metal casing that is about the thickness of a strand of sewing thread. Too fragile. No wonder it failed after such a short time.

Braun Tassimo TA 1400 Hot Beverage System Review

I have had this for a few days now, and so far I am very impressed.Fast, practically no clean-up, and very good quality. To be able to offer guests a choice of coffee, coffee drinks, tea or hot chocolate is great. So far I have tried the Gavalia drinks that came with it or that are sold seperately in stores (Gavalia latte, cappucino), except the espresso alone (not a big fan of espresso), and the hot chocolate. The Gavalia coffee is smooth and mild and very good, though I am hoping the coffee I ordered through the Tassimo website includes stronger alternatives.Latte and Cappucino are very good, and comparable to coffee shop (though maybe not the top shops).I'll get to the Twinings earl grey tea soon, and make myself a mocha with Hershey's syrup.Overall, I have zero complaints about the function or quality.I am very anxious to get the coffee only offered through their website, although the Maxwell House brands are not available for some reason (support e-mail says available again soon).

The negatives, which for me are minor, are 1) expense. I like it so much I am drinking way too much. That'll slow down as the novelty wears off. 2) Why can't any of these pod makers account for a tall travel mug?It seems so easy to consider given the popularity. You can remove the entire cup holder, but since it is also the drip tray and steam relief valve you have to clean up some water in the bottom tray.I could not give it 5 stars because of this.

I am thinking of getting a second one for the office but not sure whether I get this one, or try the Kuerig (??) just for variety. It is hard to not get another Tassimo now that I know what it does. Also depends on others pitching in on t-discs.I may take it in for a week as a trial before I buy another one.

Mr. Coffee Cocomotion Hot Chocolate Maker Review

This thing makes the greatest hot chocolate and it is so fast and easy. Just add milk and syrup or powdered mix and push the button. They even have marks on the side of the mixing area so you don't need a measuring cup. The hot chocolate is smooth because it is mixed constantly. Even when my mom made it for me as a kid from scratch it never came out this smooth and well mixed. The included recipies are good and fun to try, but we usually go with the super easy milk & Hershey's recipe. My only complaint is that since the main part of the unit is all one peice and it has a cord, you can't submerge it, so cleanup isn't as easy as throwing it all in the sink or dishwasher. That's our only gripe and it's minor. My wife and I live in an area of the country where the winters are really cold and snowy. Cocomotion helps us get through the winter with a much better attitude. I'll be honest. This thing sits in our cupboard from May to September. But from October through April it sees almost daily service. You won't be disappointed with this purchase.

Bosch Tassimo Single Serve Coffee Brewers Review

Ordered this new Bosch Tassimo machine on-line directly from Tassimo.Same price as Amazon at $139.99.www.tassimo.com. We have been using it for about a week now and I absolutely love it!We had used the Braun Tassimo machine for about 5 years and the new Bosch has much improved the Tassimo coffee maker. Here's a list of the Improvements:
1.It's narrower and doesn't take up as much counter space
2.There is a power button on the front of the machine so you can easily turn it off at night.
3.There is essentially no water warm-up time.It is almost instant after you insert the T-disc and push the green button.
4.It is extemely quiet.
5.It even makes the coffee a little stronger than the old machine did.
6.It does not collect waste water that you have to empty all the time.Only the few drops of coffee that don't make it into your cup are collected.
7.Much better filtering system. It also has a change filter indicator to tell you when its time to change the filter.
8.Higher construction quality, more solid feel to the machine.
