BonJour 8 Cup Fiore French Press, Double Wall Stainless Steel Review

I purchased a Bonjour french Press and my screen came off so the manufacturing company (Meyer) replaced the entire press with this Bonjour Fiore. Pros: The entire press and carafe is stainless steel; insulated with double stainless steel which keeps your beverage hot for hours; has a triple filter system and the push press is tighter than most so there are no grinds or tea leaves spilling through to your cup. Modern design, easy to clean and good company reputation. Cons: The spout is so petite that your beverage must be poured slowly or it will end up on your counter tops. This defect is a small price to pay for such a well made french press that will last for many years.

BonJour 8-Cup Maximus French Press, Polished Stainless Steel Review

After buying this French Press I must say I'm disappointed by BonJour and most likely won't buy their products again. It's my first French Press. I was excited to say the least. But I found a few problem with this particular brand.

1. The metal casing was not very well fitted. The bending of these legs aren't even so the glass doesn't really sit in the middle. Also the metal casing holds the glass very tight. Making it impossible to replace it without either breaking it or take everything apart.

2. The press is very loose. It slides down to the bottom without you pushing it at all.

Eventially I return this and bought a Frieling Stainless Steel French Press. But I also went to Peet's coffee and looked at the Bodum ones. If you really want to get a glass one, get Bodum ones. They are much better made than Bonjour. The press part is also all metal on the Bodum ones. Consider that Bodum ones are the same price as these Bonjour ones, I see no reason anyone would buy this unless Bonjour improve their quality dramatically.

LaCafetiere Havana Coffee Press, Black Review

Some time ago I bought a 48 oz Bodum press, which is fantastic, but about twice as much pricewise. So wanting another one, thought I'd give this one a go. While it does make coffee, it doesn't seal quite right: grounds can leak around the plunger disc, the coffee gets cold fast because the cap leaves a gap. Overall, this feels and acts like an inferior product. It gets the job done, but not nearly as nicely.

Bodum Bean 8-Cup French Press Coffee Maker Review

This is my first french press.My sister and brother in law only use these.So we went to visit them on vacation and coffee has never been the same.I tossed the drip crap we had and bought one of these from my local Sur La Table for $30.It makes the best tasting coffee ever!I do not use coarse ground as it states.That was a little weak for us.I use fine grounds, making an almost espresso strong coffee. I am now making home made lattes for great money savings!

Now the one con-the lid.Yes, it is cool to have a no spill feature, but you can't clean inside the lid!I can forsee some nasty growth in there sometime in the future.We use ours everyday. I thought about putting vinegar and hot water in and pouring that out to help, but then I have to be REALLY sure to get all that outta there before brewing again.Not worth the hassle for me.

I plan on returning this model tomorrow for one that just uses the beaker to pour and not some plastic part.Plus, staying away from the plastic is better for us in the long run anyhow.

This "3-cup" coffee press can barely handle 2 liquid cups (note the OZ capacity) and the handle, which looks to be fused to the main "beaker" in all the photos actually seems to be super-glued on.Also, the spiral coil that keeps the mesh in place does not extend far enough to the sides, which lets grinds slip past.

This item's actual worth is probably around $5 -- decent for single servings, but for $10 and this quality, I would suggest Ikea products instead: [...]

I was able to remove this, and have been using the press successfully for several months, but the lid doesn't fit on the carafe as well as it should and there is a screw holding the shaft to the lid that tends to come loose.

A French press consists of a narrow cylindrical jug usually made of glass or clear plastic, equipped with a lid and a plunger, made of metal or plastic, which fits tightly in the cylinder and which has a fine wire or nylon mesh acting as a filter. Coffee is brewed by placing the coffee and water together, leaving to brew for a few minutes, then depressing the plunger to trap the coffee grinds at the bottom of the jug. A French press requires coffee of a more coarse grind than that used for a drip brew coffee filter, such as produced by a burr mill grinder rather than the whirling blade variety, as a finer grind will seep through the press filter and into the coffee. Because the coffee grounds remain in direct contact with the brewing water and the grinds are filtered from the water via a mesh instead of a paper filter, coffee brewed with the French press captures more of the coffee's flavour and essential oils, which would become trapped in a traditional drip brew machine's paper filters. French pressed coffee is usually stronger and thicker and has more sediment than drip-brewed coffee.
