Rapid Brew Percolator – 9-cup Review

A good-looking coffee pot and makes a good cup of coffee. However, a nine-cup pot actually makes only 8 cups. I really enjoy the smell of fresh coffee being made in the morning and seeing the coffee perculating through the glass top. Nonetheless, after making less than a dozen pots of coffee, while pouring coffee in a cup the glass top just broke off and tumbled into the cup.So order a couple of more glass perculator tops along with the pot because the pot is useless without it.

JavaStudio Series 14 Cup Programmable Coffee Maker Review

I purchased this coffee maker when my wife saw it at Lowes and couldn't stop talking about it; something quite unusual for her.Considering the age of our current coffee maker, I bought it on the next trip out.

A few days into life with the JavaStudio and all is very well.The coffee is great, the machine looks great and I have no complaints to register.Coffee is hot and stays that way without tasting burnt even after a great deal of time (90 minutes tested so far but the maker shuts off after 120).Since what is "hot" in terms of coffee is relative, some people may not find it hot enough, however the hotter it is the more likely it is to have a burnt taste after 45 minutes, which is really bad.This was certainly hot enough for me and my tastes.I would say after pouring the mug I could comfortably drink it after 2-3 minutes.For me I wait about 5-6 minutes after getting Starbucks coffee before I can drink that comfortably.I hope this seemingly useless info gives a general idea about this.

Easy to use, large capacity (14 cups) and a classy, good look earns this coffee maker 5 stars.

Copco 4- to 8-Cup Polished Stainless Steel Stovetop Percolator Review

This is a great little coffee percolator, especially for the inexpensive price. For one person it makes more than I need, since the full "8 cups" comes out to about 4 normal mugs full.

I used the original plastic top for the first use, and it didn't seem to get too hot at all. Some mentioned the top melting in other reviews. Once the pot reaches a boil turn the heat down to medium, since it will still percolate there's no reason to boil on a red hot "high" burner (which may have caused the melting they mentioned).

Just in case I also purchased the replacement glass top (B0000CFM6K) advertised with the percolator here. It attached nice and tight, and works great too. I'm sure the inexpensive glass replacement top will last as long as the coffee pot.

Another great thing I noticed was that when I wet the basket, as recommended, before loading the coffee grinds no grinds ended up in the coffee at all. I thought there would be, but no grinds in any cups of coffee after a half dozen uses now. It's a great little percolator.

Hamilton Beach 40616 Stainless-Steel 12-Cup Electric Percolator Review

Before I purchased this coffee pot about a year ago, I read reviews by others who said 'good coffee but lasted only a few months.'I thought to myself...'oh, those people must have been the unlucky few who got bad units...or they emersed the pot and ruined it.'I should have listened to their 'don't buy' pleas, and hope others will listen to my message of warning.

I loved this coffee pot.Rich, strong, hot coffee, and great classic looks.My only complaint was that compared to other percolators I've used, this one is noisy.It makes a loud popping sound while brewing.I never emersed the unit, and was always very careful to avoid letting any water get near the base of the unit when washing it.

I bought this pot a year ago, and used it about twice a MONTH.Yesterday morning, I attempted to make coffee but got only the same 'beige water' that others have reported.Tried again today thinking maybe it was just a fluke, and got a second pot of luke warm 'beige water.'

I suspect that others who posted initially positive feedback about this pot have had the same experience, but just haven't returned to update their reviews.In any case, I would strongly caution against the purchase of this pot.It's just not durable.

Miallegro 1090 Coffee Maker 12-cup Automatic Drip Review

This is the third Miallegro product I've bought, and like it as much as the other two.I got their MiTutto hand blender (real powerful!) and a fan before.Since they looked stylish and have held up well, I decided to go for this coffee maker.I had a Senseo before, but thought the pads were a bit pricey - so I wanted something easy and simple but still looked good.

The coffee maker doesn't really come with any bells n' whistles - instead, it's just easy to use, pretty reliable and shuts off automatically after an hour or so.I do like the permanent filter that's included - no need to buy the paper ones any more.I just take it out and rinse the grinds out in the sink.

One drawback is that it doesn't seem to really make 12 big cups.I started poking around, and it seems they're basing it on European-sized coffee cups, which are smaller than the big American ones.So, expect to make about 9 or 10 Yankee-size cups o' Joe.

So, i'm still very satisfied with my Miallegro purchases and will probably buy from them again.

Presto 02811 12-Cup Stainless Steel Coffeemaker Review

First of all, the reason we bought this is because, in general, percolators make great tasting coffee.They can turn even the worst quality beans into a good cup of coffee.Initially, the Presto lived up to our expectations.And after doing the following, it is once again making great cups of coffee.

Tip #1 - Grind your coffee using the appropriate setting.

After some usage, we would at times get a mouthful of grinds.We realized it was important to use the percolator setting on the coffee grinder at the supermarket.Since then, an occasional coffee grind finds its way into our cup.

Tip #2 - Clean the filter basket with a brush.

Despite cleaning the pot before each usage, the coffee was gradually getting weaker each day. We then realized that the holes in the bottom of the filter basket were clogged.We could not unclog them using a sponge so I started poking each one individually with a toothpick before deciding there was no way we would have the time or patience to do it every day.So, we tried a brush with plastic bristles and, within seconds, the basket was completely unclogged.So, we bought a small brush with a long handle and use it to clean the filter basket and the bottom of the pot.

Presto 02822 6-Cup Stainless-Steel Coffee Percolator Review

I originally purchased this percolator to throw in my suitcase for business and vacation travel because I can't stand those funky hotel coffee brewers and cheap single-serving coffee packets. But, this Presto percolator is such a fast brew, the coffee is so much better, and it is so easy to take care of, that it has become my daily brewer, even when I am home. There are no gaskets to remove (stove-top espresso makers), there is nowhere for mold to build up (have you ever looked at the area where the coffee comes out of the electric coffee makers after a few days?), and all of the parts are stainless steel or plastic. Plus, it doubles as a teapot while traveling; just wash it, add water, and plug it in! In less then 5 minutes, you can have a hot cup of tea in your hotel room. The parts are all solid, sturdy, and fit together perfectly, too.

Farberware Percolators Review

I've happilly enjoyed Farberware's larger 20-cup electric percolator that is still brewing some wonderful coffee after 10 years.All I had to replace was the electric cord, which petered out after 3 years.
I've had this model for a few months and think that it will also last a long, long time (don't know about the cord, though).This machine looks terrifically retro, is easy to clean and keeps the coffee consistenly hot for hours.After tasting coffee here, you won't go back to your old drip machine.
My advice to you is:
1. Don't overfill the basket with grinds, because it's very easy to make a STRONG cup of coffee with this.We like strong coffee, so this is a good thing.
2. Clean it w/soap & water as soon as you are finished with it to protect the pot.I also clean it out with Dip-It every 6 weeks or so to remove the coffee stains from the inside and make it shiny and new-looking.
3.At most supermarkts you can buy little paper disc filters that sit in the bottom of the jar and keep the smaller grinds from falling into the water.It also filters out alleged carcinogens that are not removed by traditional percolators or coffee presses.
I would actually give this 4.5 stars, because sadly, these newer models are now made in China rather than the Farberware factory in the Bronx.

DeLonghi DC514T 14-Cup Programmable Drip Coffeemaker Review

I've had my DeLonghi Esclusivo coffeemaker for exactly 3 months. It brewed the best tasting coffee I've ever had. It was my favorite coffee maker by far for the following reasons: Coffee is delicious -slow brewing permits a more robust coffee. Small footprint on my counter. Stylish design. VERY easy to program and use. Large opening through which to pour water. Charcoal filter to purify water. Automatic shut off. Caraffe has large opening for easy cleaning. NON-DRIP POURING!! I was in heaven with this coffeemaker and knew I'd found the perfect one. (I've had many in my lifetime.)

Unfortunately, two days ago, the plastic surrounding the hot plate began to melt. The vendor from whom I purchased it has already refunded my money and has asked me to return it. I will NOT purchase another one for fear of fire hazard. This coffeemaker would have received 10 stars from me had it not begun to melt itself to death. For this reason, I'm heartsick.....it WAS the perfect coffeemaker.

Cuisinart DCC-2600 Brew Central 14-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker with Glass Carafe Review

This is a replacement for my old Cuisinart coffee maker which I had for about six years or so (the predecessor to this model). I loved my old one even with some of the little quirks it had. It beat out any Braun or Krupp pot which I had ever owned. This new updated model is a winner. All of the small annoyances have been solved, such as the small fill tank opening, the dripping cover that leaked back into the fill tank, and finally, thank you Cuisinart people, a water level guide on the outside of the unit. The front knobs on the front are now also easier to see and use. As my other Cuisinart did, it brews superior coffee and quickly. I find it takes about one minute per cup... 12 minutes for twelve cups, not bad at all. Yes, the unit does make some clicking and popping noises when it is new, so did my old one. But that goes away in time as the unit gets "broken in". I do not think you can find a better coffee maker on the market.
