This item just arrived yesterday.I got it to replace my plastic french press mug because I was sick of drinking coffee that tasted like plastic.So far, this is doing a wonderful job.

A couple notes:The picture on here doesn't do this justice.It's beautifully designed.The only downsides:It's smaller than the mug it's replacing -- I'd guess you get about 8 oz of brewed coffee out of every press.The glass isn't quite insulated well enough, so it's a little hot to hold when it's first brewed.Thicker glass or a handle would be a definite plus.

Planetary Design Double Shot Travel French Press Mug Review

I have owned one of these mugs for not quite a year- I was given it as a birthday present - and at first I thought it the coolest thing since sliced bread. The portable French press is a great way of making excellent coffee on the go, and the "secret storage compartment" for another cup's worth of java adds a nice fillip. The only thing I could have wished for until recently was a way to close the French press lid completely - while it comes with a sealable lid for use when you're drinking regular coffee out of it, the French press lid has a permanent opening, and hot coffee can still slop out on bumpy roads.

My problem with the mug is that about six months after owning it I noticed the handle starting to loosen, and then two weeks ago it came right off. Turns out there's only one rivet holding the handle onto the mug, and if that weakens or breaks - no more handle. I've tried to reattach it with Superglue but can't get it to stick.

My friend who owns the coffee shop where my mug came from tells me they've had this problem with three or four others out of the case they bought for resale. So while I love the idea, I probably won't buy another, because for $27 apiece I expect something well engineered enough to stand up to a bit of handling and for a bit longer than a year.

Timolino 17-Ounce Travette Coffee and Tea Maker Review

I'm so glad to have found this personal kettle that I'll probably purchase another for the office or keep in my car, or maybe even give some away as gifts.There is nothing like it on the market from Bodum or any of the other name manufacturers.It's totally easy to make great tea through the infuser component (no more filters and strange, messy contraptions).The infuser is large enough so that the tea has room to expand.

And everything comes apart easily for cleaning and is quite unlikely to break.The kettle has a nice weight and non-skid bottom, easy to pour handle, the size is about a half-liter (1.5 hefty U.S. mugs full) -- and it keeps tea hot for hours.There is no leaking during pouring, unless the gasket comes off when cleaning and hasn't been put back in place correctly.I can't say enough good things about this product that all loose tea lovers should have and keep for many years.

About Timolino, as some other customers have noticed, their shipping is not terribly fast, I guess unless you're on the west coast.So don't wait too long to order, if you're in a hurry.But the product arrived well packed.The box was acceptable for gift giving.For the price, the Travette and company definitely deserve 5 stars plus: *****+.

Bodum 16-Ounce Travel Coffee Press and Tea Maker, Clear Review

I've owned this mug for a couple of years and used it primarily for camping. Dan from Rochester got it right with his commentary, so I'll add just a few points.

The concept is ideal for camping and reduces the effort to make really good coffee. However, the bad points regarding the plunger not going down far enough; leaking lid; etc. are all right on.Also, the cup is double-wall plastic for insulation. The inside sleeve on mine cracked when I poured boiling hot water in it!

I would certainly purchase a similar item again, though not this one. Bodum just needs to increase the quality.I would pay twice the price for higher quality.

Overall...not recommended.
